台灣地區附近海域,每年在梅雨期間,常常有中尺度對流系統在海面上生成與發展,然後移向台灣造成豪雨。由於許多的研究都顯示,海氣之間的交互作用和海上中尺度對流系統的生成與發展關係可能非常密切。不過由於海面上傳統觀測資料往往不足,一般而言,很難有足夠的資料進行相關的分析。本研究的目的是利用GMS-5及SSM/I衛星資料建立一套各種海氣參數(包括海水表面溫度、近海面空氣的溫溼度、風速、海氣間的潛熱與可感熱通量)的反演方法與流程,並利用各種海氣參數,發展了一個可以描述整體海氣交互作用強弱程度與其變化趨勢的客觀潛力指數(Objective Potential Index; OPI)。此外也將OPI應用在1997年到2000年台灣地區梅雨期海上中尺度對流系統消長的實際個案分析中。文中關於海面溫度、近海面空氣溼度及風速的反演方程式,是利用多(或雙)頻道線性迴歸法來建立;近海面空氣溫度是利用本研究自行研發的改良式Bowen比值法來計算;海氣間的潛熱及可感熱通量則是用總體參數法來獲得。
研究結果顯示:對台灣及南海附近海域的SSM/I與GMS-5海面溫度的反演值與船舶觀測的相關係數及均方根誤差分別為0.86、1.38K和0.86、1.86K。近海面空氣溼度的反演結果分別為0.95、1.53g/kg和0.76、1.8g/kg。關於利用改良式Bowen比值法來計算近海面空氣溫度部分,反演結果則分別為0.93、1.46K和0.86、1.69K。
關於OPI的應用方面,結果也顯示:OPI指數大於0.5表示海氣之間具有明顯的正向(由下到上)能量傳送之潛力,這樣正向的下邊界條件應該是有利對流系統的生成或發展。此外在逐時OPI指數與GMS-5紅外線第一頻道亮度溫度的時間序列變化情形分析中,似乎可以發現,對單純自海面上生出並且發展的對流系統而言,OPI指數的變化與平均亮度溫度的變化具有時間延遲,因此透過OPI指數的計算與追蹤,應該可以成為梅雨期海上中尺度對流系統生成或發展前兆的諸多參考因子之一。
