UMTS系統下的封包排程機制主要在於將即時類別訊務設定為高優先權類別的傳輸訊務,UMTS標準裡所採用的排程法則為PQ / WFQ,初步將高優先權的訊務直接以 PQ 的方式做堆疊,其餘訊務則以 WFQ 處理,但在有限資源環境下,單純區分優先權等級不足以有效利用系統資源,由於 Conversation 以及 Stream 訊務在延遲時間上各有不同的限制條件,兩類訊務的區分勢必要更加詳細。 本論文中所採用的 HPS 封包排程機制,是運用階層式的封包排程規劃,針對不同類型的即時類別訊務,做出優先權的調整, 運用允入控制在有限的頻寬資源下考慮新用戶對系統傳輸效能,取得阻絕率與系統傳輸效率的平衡來藉此提高整體系統傳輸效能,在階層式封包排程的規劃下,封包將經過兩個階段的封包排程,第一階段為相同類別訊務的虛擬順序決定,第二階段排定不同類別訊務的傳送順序,當決定了所有封包的虛擬次序後,系統將傳送”最適合傳送封包”至實體的輸出線路上,HPS 排程法則將提供更好的傳輸表現,以期改善 Cellular Network 之 QoS。
