將我國基礎、應用、及產業研究的專利成果透過三方面來討論,得到各項結果:(1)基礎研究:依專利核准數來觀察,產業與學門間有較密切的關聯情況者,為積體電路產業與微電工程、光電產業與光電工程、及製藥工業與藥學三者;所應用之產業較廣的專利依學門來分,有化學工程、金屬陶瓷材料工程,而所應用之學門較廣的專利依產業來分有精密機械、機械設備製造及生物技術;產業間的關聯,以積體電路、電腦周邊、通訊、光電四產業間有密切的關聯,學門間的關聯,則以微電工程、金屬及陶瓷材料工程間有密切的關聯(2)應用研究:研發投入對其專利產出的影響並不明顯;(3)產業研究:研發經費與營業額、營業額與專利在各產業上都有高度的相關,研發經費與專利間則沒有一致的相關性;在市場佔有率與專利佔有率間也沒有絕對的關聯性存在;而研發經費成長率、營業額成長率與專利核准數間也是沒有一致的關聯情況;(4)在基礎、應用研究的專利申請國傾向,都以美國、其次是日本為想申請的國外專利;(5)在基礎、應用、及產業研究三方面的專利共同擁有權情況,都表現出在專利上的共同合作關係並不明顯的情況。
