Because of the improvement of technology, the distance of this world is not as far as before. We are now in the international society, national language become a necessary ability nowadays. In Taiwan, English becomes more and more important, all schools attend to improve students’ English ability quickly. However, the English education in Taiwanese elementary schools are not enough to improve their English ability. In order to help student learn English, we should find the key factors which affects English learning. Learning motivation plays an important role in English as a second language learning. How to enhance students’ learning motivation to influence the learning achievement, is an important issue in Second language learning.
Constructionism emphasizes “learning by doing”, and says that information technology is an assistant in this part. Base on constructionism, this study has combined it with ipad and developed a digital storytelling system named “繪本館”.
This research object is 5th grade elementary school students in a school in Taoyuan.
Students should create their own English stories in English class, and they could use all the English words they learned from the English course. The purpose of this study is to know how this activity would influence the English Learning.
Results showed this activity can significantly improve the control, attention and interest of student’s flow state, and the intrinsic goal orientation and the self-efficacy for learning in learning motivation are better than before. It’s means that students become more active in English learning. Nevertheness, there were some students didn’t think this activity could facilitate their learning in English. I think it might be relate to difference of students personality, this situation can be involved in the future research.
