The present study aims to explore the relationship between openness to experience and adaptive performance, with regards to the possible mediation by learning agility and grit. Adaptive performance is a type of job performance that an individual adapts to its environmental and work demand. Learning agility refers to “the willingness and ability to learn new competencies in order to perform under first-time, tough, or different conditions” (Lombardo & Eichinger, 2000). Grit refers to “perseverance and passion for long-term goals” (Duckworth et al., 2007). A total of 320 questionnaires from working adults were collected and analyzed. Results show positive correlation among openness to experience and adaptive performance. While learning agility is able to mediate such relationship, the mediation of grit is not present, probably due to low to moderate correlations with adaptive performance.
