The prevailing use of the international franchise system throughout the world provides impetus for academic research in the international franchise system development. In this research, a stage model, termed as the Stage Model of the International Franchise System Development, was therefore proposed to provide insights for the process of developing the international franchise system successfully. The development of the proposed model take references from related literature and case studies on five Taiwan’s international franchisers in the food industry. Detailed challenges, problems, and opportunities at each stage were documented, and directions for the future research were provided.
