Technology brings convenience and benefits to life, enabling organizations to develop innovation across fields. Conducting the new product innovation project, the team's marketing and R&D need to seek external knowledge to achieve product innovation performance and project efficiency. However, it is difficult for team members to obtaining external knowledge and the situations would make the organization lack of the knowledge for new product innovation, which has resulted in the poor innovation performance.
Based on this gap, past studies showed the results that could be solved by team diversity, and strengthening the willingness by trust, relationships and cognitive views
among members of the organization to achieve the goals. Both of them can positively improve the performance of product innovation and project efficiency.
Past research models mostly discussed the knowledge distance from the perspective of knowledge diversity, also regarded team diversity and social capital as
discussion objects or mediation variables.
According to Ozer and Zhang (2018), the knowledge distance was divided into market distance and technical distance. Therefore, this study used both of them as the
research role to explore the effect of new product development performance, and discussed the effect of which was adjusted by team diversity and social capital.
