  • 速率控制對於大多數多媒體服務,如串流應用程式而言是一個關鍵性的機制。這些串流應用程式像是隨選視訊(Video on Demand)或是網路語音(Voice over IP)等等的服務在發展上碰到一些關鍵性的問題—如頻寬的不足,傳輸協定效能的低落等。這些在網際網路上整合性的即時應用多媒體程式在這幾年快速的成長,主要的原因在於寬頻技術以及互連技術的發展。
    在接下來的世代的網路科技中,人們將可以透過這些無死角,各種網絡可以互相連線的機制,讓使用者輕鬆的得以在任何時間、任何地點使用這些應用服務。然而,現行的無線通訊網路上被大量使用的通訊協定,如TCP 或是TFRC 依然存在著上述的問題—有效頻寬的不足,壅塞判斷的錯誤等。
    這篇論文中我們提出了名為異變基礎速率控制(Jitter-based Rate Control)此一速率控制機制來適應這種有線與無線混合的網路架構並且提供比現存的解決方案更好的效能。


    Rate Control plays an key role for many multimedia services such as streaming applications. These streaming applications such as video on demand (VoD) or voice over IP (VoIP) services face some critical problems such as insu¢ cient bandwidth and improper performance of transmission protocols. Emerging real-time multimedia services over IP grow fast with the advent of advanced broadband communications and innovated interconnection technologies.
