在電腦技術大量提昇的今日,在研究交通安全中有關駕駛人特性與行為方面,駕駛模擬系統為一個常用的工具。本研究針對都市環境可能遇到的駕駛環境與突發事件,開發一套虛擬實境模擬訓練系統,讓使用者得於安全、無威脅性且接近真實的模擬情境下操作與進行訓練,同時發揮模擬器系統的優點,模擬一些危險情境突發狀況的事件,避免直接利用實車練習的危險。
在基本駕駛行為研究方面,則針對正常人做一系列基本駕駛行為實驗,包括直線加速、變換車道與彎道實驗,過程中對使用者的操作行為進行紀錄與監控,事後再依此資料來對每次的駕駛行為做分析研究,目的在了解正常人使用本系統時,能否有一穩定的駕駛表現與驗證系統的穩定度,同時可歸納出在這些駕駛基本行為下,正常人的表現特性。將來可應用在醫療復健方面,希望利用本模擬系統觀察復建病人的駕駛行為,能有助於醫生評估復建的成效。系統同時具備進階駕駛行為研究功能,例如突發事件反應時間與反應動作。
