With the development and progress of robotics, robots have more capabilities and their looks become more attractive to human. Since the price of robots goes down, it is possible to use robots in education.
In this research, applications of using a cheap robot in elementary school English classroom were proposed. The robot''s capabilities were augmented with computer after our modification.
Five models of collaboration between teachers and robot are proposed, they are: 1.Storytelling model, 2.Pronunciation leading model, 3. Cheerleader model, 4.let’s act model, 5.Q&A model. In these models, the robot plays as a role of teacher''s partner. We design the course flow in advance based on the learning content and these five models, we also design the interface of robot for content input.
After two weeks'' experiment in the three 5th grade classes we found that students participate in the activities more enthusiastically and they become more like this English class.
