光纖通訊使用WDM調變方式於同步光纖網路上(SONET),有傳輸容量大的優點,但其設置也有缺點的存在,譬如需要大量的硬體於終端設備上。波長加入/取出調變器(ADM)的出現,可降低SONET終端設備的數量,其運作的方式是允許個別的波長,經由ADM,從節點加入或取出或旁路於此節點,就如同從大渠道中,引流出一小部分,這樣的操作比電子式的終端設備容易。 在實體層中,如何設置眾多的ADMs就顯得格外的重要。而本論文中先探討傳統的方式找尋ADMs擺放的位置,再運用平均值近似法與超節點近似法,對其做快速評估其節省百分率,及所需使用之ADM數目與位置。
