賣淫是個極富爭議性的話題，關於賣淫的中文性倫理研究卻十分罕見，因此本文欲先發地探討賣淫最根源的問題，易即「賣淫是不道德的嗎？」在當代西方賣淫論述中，比較有力和具有理論系統的反賣淫立場包括傳統道德、情感主義、親權主義、馬克思主義和女性主義等等，這些反賣淫立場與當代自由派學者之間相互對抗的辯論，正是本文的主要內容，本文目的是要問賣淫錯在那裡，它有無可能被道德所容許。
