隨著全球化的趨勢演進,英語學習越來越受到重視,在我政府教育改革的項目中,更將英語學習向下紮根至國小三年級,而在聽說讀寫四個項目中,尤其著重聽說的能力。但是相較於英語讀寫教學,聽說能力的訓練格外耗費師資人力,不但造成老師教學上的負擔,也造成學生於課堂中無法充分地進行口語練習。本研究透過個人數位助理(Personal Digital Assistant, PDA),結合文字轉語音技術(Text-to-Speech)與語音辨識技術(Speech Recognition),建置了一個適合於國小英語教學之學習護照系統,增加學生進行英語口語訓練的機會。在本研究中,學生可以利用PDA實現一人一機的環境,透過無線網路的環境,進行線上的英語學習護照闖關。經由語音辨識將學習者從麥克風輸入的聲音加以判定對錯,以及使用文字轉語音化的技術提供學習者在進行口語練習時所需的模仿示範,提供學習者一個可以在課堂中開口進行口語的練習環境。研究的步驟先由文獻觀察與分析並參考相關系統研究,以系統開發的方法延續「學習護照系統」的開發與設計,根據發展的方法由需求分析、系統分析設計、系統建置及測試等發展步驟,而以系統數據的統計、學生問卷評估、及老師的訪談的方式,來驗證實驗結果。研究者得到下列結論:
(一)、 英語學習護照系統可以提高學習者在課堂進行口語練習的機會,增加學習者對於口語能力的自信心。
(二)、 英語學習護照系統提供老師完整的學習者學習歷程記錄,幫助老師掌握所有學習者的學習情況。
(三)、 英語學習護照利用PDA做為設備,達成一人一機的教學形式,對幫助老師和學習者進行口語教學與學習上有所助益。
As the trend of globalization, English learning becomes more important. In the master plan of our government''s educational reform, English learning is considered as starting at the third grade of primary school. Especially, training on listening or speaking skills is more emphasized than reading or writing. However, students have not much chance to practice with each other. In this study, we use the device of Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), incorporated with text-to-speech and speech recognition techniques to help students to practice oral practice. In our research, we found that students have increased their practice times in our 1-on-1 learning environment. It indicates that students have much chance to speak, and have much confidence to speak in English. The teacher can understand students’ leaning state by records of the learning passport. It helps the teacher to improve the teaching strategies. And according to the interview of teacher and students, I have obtained some conclusions
1. English learning passport system can help students increase chances of oral practices in classroom, and can make them much confidence in English oral skill.
2. English learning passport system can help a teacher to get full record of students’ portfolios, and know all students’ learning state.
3. English learning passport system uses PDA to make 1-on-1 learning situation. It help a teacher and students to perform instruction and learning in English oral skill.
