這篇論文主要探討在Wireless ATM網路中路徑預先建立的問題。我們在雙階層(Two-Tier)個人通訊系統的環境下將原有Mobile Switching Center(MSC)與microcell基地台間實體線路的連接作一些改變,發展出一個新的架構,在這個架構下提出了我們的路徑預留的策略(lazy connection reservation)。
和現有存在的非重疊的架構(non-overlapping)及重疊的架構(overlapping)相較之下,在我們架構中MSC所涵蓋的面積要比另外兩個架構要大,因此使用者在移動過程中改變MSC的次數減少了,相對的也減少了路徑預先建立的個數,除此之外,我們路徑預留的策略(lazy connection reservation)也更能準確的依照使用者的移動方向,來預先建立路徑,避免因路徑來不及建立造成傳輸延遲或中斷的情況發生,同時也減少預先建立路徑的個數,節省有線網路頻寬的浪費。在硬體成本的花費上,我們的架構與重疊的架構(overlapping)相較之下,節省了MSC和microcell基地台間實體線路連接的成本。
