This thesis suggests a thorough investigation into how Friedrich Nietzsche's ideas influenced the development of characters and fundamental concepts in Lars von Trier's movies. Among other post-Nietzschean ideas, the study will focus on the Apollonian/Dionysian dualism, the will to power, and eternal recurrence as the philosophical foundations that form von Trier's cinematic universe.
