This study explores the effect of leader-member exchange on employees’ career encouragement, career satisfaction, and managerial aspirations. The study also examines the mediating effect of career encouragement on the relationships between leader-member exchange and career satisfaction as well as managerial aspirations. The results show that leader-member exchange is positively related to employees’ career encouragement, career satisfaction, and managerial aspirations. Career encouragement is also positively related to career satisfaction and managerial aspirations. Moreover, career encouragement is found to fully mediate the relationships between leader-member exchange and career satisfaction as well as managerial aspirations. Managerial implication and suggestions for future research are thus discussed.
