本實驗室針對光煙霧中臭氧前驅物開發自動量測方法,由於揮發性前驅物種包含了C2 - C12的有機物質,其沸點的差異頗大,目前並無單一氣相層析管柱能將此大範圍的物種做全面性的分離,故常用PLOT管柱分離低碳數物種(C2 - C6),而以DB - 1來分離中高碳數的物種(C6 - C12)。過去的作法為將兩支成份不同的碳分子篩捕捉管分別捕捉,再進入PLOT和DB - 1管柱,之後由火焰離子偵測器(FID)偵測。FID具有價格便宜能對含碳氫物種定量的優點,但其對未知物種並無法加以辨識,而質譜儀則具有對未知物定性、定量的優點,但其造價高昂,故如何藉由一台質譜儀便能取代兩顆FID進行定性與定量便成為本研究的重點。
本實驗的主要研究目的以簡化系統設計、縮短層析時間及鑑定未知物種的前題下著手,將PLOT和DB - 1管柱彼此並聯匯合後,進入單一四極棒質譜儀(FINNIGAN TRACE DSQ)做偵測,在PLOT和DB - 1吸付管同時低溫捕捉且依序升溫脫附進樣,先後進入質譜儀做偵測,達成了在單一分析流程內就將高低碳數所有物種一次分離的目的,縮短了近1 / 3的時間完成層析圖譜,並利用質譜儀本身的功能來對未知物種的性質與濃度做進一步的鑑定。
質量層析儀雖有相較於火焰離子偵測器能對未知物種作定性上的探討,但由於其分析環境須處於高真空的狀態,故在硬體配合上增加了製作的困難度,但經由本層析系統後,對高低碳數的臭氧前驅物皆可作全面性地定性以及定量也是本套系統對於分析鑑定未知物種上地另一貢獻。
