本研究初期經由文獻探討,及企業訪談後發現供應商選擇標準與供應商發展活動將會影響製造績效的表現。因此,在建立研究架構之後,根據中華徵信所提供的名單中,以電子電器業、機械及精密器械業、化工原料業共592家廠商做為研究的對象,實證供應商選擇標準與供應商發展活動對製造績效間之影響,並分別探討採購產品類型對供應商選擇標準與供應商發展活動的關係。
本研究對供應商選擇標準的項目以Ellram(1990)所提出的分類標準為基礎,將供應商選擇標準分為傳統定量的供應商選擇標準與策略合夥定性的選擇標準。對供應商發展活動的項目,除參考Krause(1998)所歸納出的供應商發展活動,並加入國內實務專家之意見後,將供應商發展活動分為:1.標竿活動;2.支援活動;3.溝通活動;4.獎酬活動;5.持續改善活動;等五類。
本研究所使用的分析方法包括:次數分配、因素分析、集群分析及t檢定。
本研究結果發現,採策略合夥型供應商選擇標準的廠商製造績效較高;積極進行供應商發展活動的廠商製造績效較高;國內製造廠商進行供應商發展活動主要還是較著重溝通活動,因為企業普遍認為溝通較佳,彼此更能互相信賴,且基於公司策略或成本上的考量,較少進行支援活動。
本研究的管理意涵及對廠商的建議有下列三點:
1.運用垂直整合策略聯盟,並捨棄單打獨鬥之拓銷手法。
2.夥伴關係必需建立在選擇有競爭潛力的供應商與進行有效果的供應商發展活動的基礎之上。
3.導入企業資源規劃系統(ERP)、供應鏈管理系統(SCM),建立與供應商產銷合作的夥伴關係。
